The recall of pandoros due to the presence of foreign bodies is extended: all lots and brands involved

The shrinkage of pandoro is expanded due to possible physical risk linked to the presence of foreign bodies in the dough. After several batches of Vergani brand classic pandoro were withdrawn from the market, the Ministry of Health announced further recalls of pandoro that the same company produces and which present the same problem.

The affected Christmas products are marketed under various brands by the confectionery company ZERO+4 SRL, which produces them in its own factory in Desio, in the province of Monza and Brianza. Specifically, the recall concerns pandoro with different fillings sold under the Piaceri Mediterranei and Novaldo brands.

As the various recall notices indicate, the reason for the recall is the presence of foreign bodies in the dough: in particular, these are residues of the PTFE coating of the baking molds. Essentially, some pandoros contained fragments of non-stick coating.

The recall of the pandori is linked to the checks carried out on 31 December last by inspectors of the ATS Brianza food safety structure in a confectionery factory in Lombardy that supplies various brands and large-scale distribution. “During the cooking phase, the molds fell apart and released fragments which remained adherent to the finished product. This constitutes a real risk for consumer safety” explained by ATS Brianza.
