There is a new ranking that is making anyone who already has the suitcase ready for the holidays dream. Tripadvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards 2025 have elected the most beautiful beaches in the world, those that are worth a journey only for the pleasure of sinking their feet in the sand and letting themselves be lulled by the sound of the waves. The first place goes to Greecewith the wonderful Elaphonicat the island of Crete, while Italy must be satisfied with prestigious positions but outside the top ten. There Sagli di Lampedusa beach stops at the eleventh positionWhile Tropea appears to twentieth place. A result that makes you discuss (no Italian included among the best ten) but which confirms the undisputed charm of the Italian coasts.
Rabbits beach
Eleventh position? We can say with certainty that TripAdvisor has been all too severe. The beach of the rabbits has nothing to envy to those that preceded it in the standings. Located on the island of Lampedusa, it is an almost mystical place, where nature still dictates the rules and the show is guaranteed at any time of the day.
Transparent waters, golden sand and a bay that seems to have come out of a postcard: this angle of the Mediterranean enchants anyone who puts us foot. The beauty? It is a protected area, which means that here they reign tranquility and respect for the environment: here the Caretta Caretta turtles come to lay the eggs, the fish swim undisturbed and those who arrive know they have to respect a precious ecosystem.
Reaching the beach requires a small effort: a walk of about twenty minutes under the scorching sun, but the prize on arrival is invaluable. And if you are wondering when to visit it, the advice is clear: June and September are the perfect months to avoid crowding and enjoy the wild beauty of this corner of Sicily.
Tropea beach
To occupy the twentieth position of the ranking there is another Italian wonder: the Tropea beach. A place that seems to have come out of a dream, with the houses perched on the cliff and the sea that fades from turquoise to intense blue. The charm of Tropea is not only in its beach, but in the perfect combination of nature and history.
Here, the sea is crystal clear, the fine sand and the water has that color that makes you want to dive without thinking twice. Behind, the ancient village tells centuries of history and invites you to walk through narrow alleys, flowered balconies and restaurants that smell of Calabrian cuisine.
The view from above on the beach is something extraordinary: the iconic sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, clinging to the rock, dominates the panorama, for one of the most famous “postcards” in Italy. Sunset is an experience to try at least once in a lifetime: the sky tinged with rose and orange, while the waves caress the shore.

Italy outside the top ten: right or wrong?
You can ask yourself for a long time how it is possible that Italy, with its 8,300 km of coast, has not obtained a place in the top ten. Perhaps you pay the scotto of fame: our beaches, however spectacular, are often more crowded and less uncontaminated than certain exotic destinations. Or, simply, competition is increasingly fierce.
What is certain is that both the beach of the rabbits and the Tropea beach remain among the best in the world. Those who have been knowing well that no rankings are needed to confirm their beauty: a dip in their waters is enough to understand that paradise, sometimes, is closer than you think.
