The Perseidthe shooting stars More beautiful and expected of the year have arrived: the swarm has already been active from 17 July (and until August 24), and now 12 August it is peak, which, as for some time, has no longer been the night of San Lorenzo (10 August): all ready the tonight With so many wishes!
The most anticipated swarm of the year, the Perseids, will reach its maximum in the night between 12 and 13 August – explains the UAI – offering a suggestive show with zenitary time rates (ZHR) up to 100 meteors per hour in ideal conditions. The meteors of this swarm are known for their high speed (over 200,000 km/h) and for the tendency to generate persistent trails and bright cars, making them very photogenic and spectacular even with the naked eye
To increase the probability of admire a wonderful showit will be the moon, which, as we know, was in the flood phase on August 9: at the peak of the falling stars it will therefore be falling, making its disorder less likely.
The Perseids are so called because their radiant, or the point from which it seems that the meteors start, is found in the constellation of Perseusand therefore it is in that direction that we must first of all turn our gaze (on the map the Heaven of 12 August 2025 at about 23.00).
As experts still report, the meteors are actually caused by the meeting of the earth with the trails of debris left by the comet Swift-tuttlediscovered in 1862 and with an orbital period of about 133 years.
Whenever the comet passes near the sun, it releases dust and fragments that are distributed along its orbit (…) in recent years, the swarm has shown a certain regularity, with Zhr around 80–100, and 2025 promises to return among the most favorable vintages, thanks to the moon not very present at the night. It is a perfect opportunity, therefore, to plan an observation in company, perhaps with a deckchair, a blanket and some desires to express
We prepare i our most beautiful desires for the Most beautiful night of the year!
Good vision!
