Recently arrived on the shelves, but the new ones cookies Hive They are already making talk of themselves. On social media, tasting tests flock, with many videos on Tiktok and Instagram telling the latest novelty signed Mulino Bianco.

Curious to understand if all this attention really deserve, we have also looked for them. They are not yet very easy to find, but we managed to buy them from Esselunga.

A small pack for an effect biscuit

The first thing that is striking is the format: only 300 grams, therefore a rather small package compared to the average of the shortbreads. But the content is undoubtedly cute: the biscuits are in the shape of a hive cells, beautiful to look at and perfect for the “instagramable” intent of the product.

The two protagonists of these biscuits are honey and salty butter, which is simply butter enriched with a small amount of salt (in this case 0.1%), which creates an interesting contrast with sweetness and adds that extra touch of flavor. A combination inspired by French biscuits and trends of the moment.

Price and where they are produced

The hives are produced in the Barilla plant in Castiglione delle Stiviere (MN), active for over 40 years and considered one of the main poles of the group for the production of Bakery. A system with 11 lines and over 100 references, which also represents a point of reference for the local economy.

The price is 2.29 euros a pack but may vary depending on the store.

What about the hives know

Salato butter and honey are two ingredients that evoke a fairly refined sweet-Sapid mix, at least on paper. To the tasting honey feels more, while the salty butter is present but delicate. They are good, well made as in general the Mulino Bianco biscuits, but they have not conquered us to the point of wanting to recover them. We could define them “pleasant but not memorable”.

If you are curious, it is worth trying them, but don’t expect the breakfast biscuit revolution. And remember: as with all the desserts packaged, better not to overdo it.
