Every now and then we happen to talk about the IAS, the invasive alien species. Also previously known as invasive alien speciesthese are both animal and plant species that are introduced into countries where they would not be native and which, thanks to their adaptive abilities, have settled and reproduced so much as to create problems for the local fauna and vegetation.

As we were saying, invasive alien species are animals or plants not native to that country which, voluntarily or accidentally introduced into the territory, end up colonizing it, often damaging and displacing the local native species.

Or let’s also think about all the damage that the blue crab is doing: in addition to decimating fish and local fauna because it is very voracious, it also ruins the fishermen’s nets and equipment.
