In Gaza nothing has gone back to the way it was before and even “normal” autumn rains are a tragedy: the water is in fact devastating the tents where thousands of displaced people live. The suffering of the Palestinians continues even in the ceasefire (which, however, is still controversial). The complaint arrives directly on the social networks of the citizens of the city, now destroyed, but also by local administrators.
In the last two days, in conjunction with the recent storm, the tents of displaced people in the Gaza Strip have become floodplains due to rainwater – Sami Abuomar, Project Coordinator at Centro Italiano Di Scambio Culturale-VIK, writes on Facebook, reporting what was reported by Maher Salem, General Director of Planning of the Municipality of Gaza – Although not strong, the winds uprooted several tents, leaving families homeless. We have appealed to all stakeholders to take urgent action to provide shelter that respects human dignity and we are still requesting the entry of tents. We need heavy equipment and spare parts to speed up the repair of sewer pipes and roads. The sewage system is completely out of order in the Gaza Strip
“Normal” rain (even if torrential at times) is becoming yet another nightmare for citizens who survived the bombings, who now no longer even have a tent to shelter in.

We have nothing left since the first rain

A tent, although it certainly cannot be compared to a house, is all that thousands of people have in that tormented land, and it can cost up to 1000 dollars, an amount that for many is simply impossible to have.
Social media is invaded by terrifying videos and images, which invite us not to turn off the lights on Gaza and on the Palestinians, who continue to fight to survive, often in the total indifference of the “lucky world”.
