Eye contour creams: the best in the test are the cheapest (and in first place is a Lidl novelty)

The eye contour creams they are a precious ally in the beauty routine of many people, in fact they promise to hydrate, plump and visibly reduce the signs of aging. The skin around the eyes is particularly delicate and thin, four times thinner than other areas of the body, with fewer sebaceous glands. This makes it susceptible to dehydration and the formation of wrinkles.

But what are the best products on the market to deal with these problems? A recent one test conducted by Saldo, Swiss consumer magazine, examined 10 eye contour creams, including some products that are also found on the Italian market.

The analysis laboratory SGS Institut Fresenius in Taunusstein, Germany, conducted the test on a sample of ten women aged between 27 and 63. To ensure accurate results, participants had to stop using skin care products and soap before measuring.

The creams were evaluated based on their ability to hydrate the skin around the eyes. Moisture measurement was carried out both before using the cream and seven hours after application.

The results

The results were quite surprising: 50% of the creams tested provided good hydration to the skin but what amazed the experts the most was the fact that the best products were precisely the cheapest ones.

In particular, the anti-aging eye cream Q10+ Cien sold to Lidl which guaranteed an increase in skin moisture by 40% after seven hours and, what’s more, contained no irritants. In second place, the I am from cream sold by the Migros chain which showed similar performance, maintaining excellent hydration without the use of allergenic substances.

The good news is that the Cien Q10 Intense Vitamin E eye creamhas also been present in Lidl branches in Italy for a few months. This product earned an excellent rating, proving that even low-cost options can deliver great quality.

On the contrary, two well-known and decidedly more expensive creams, the Revitalift Laser X3 Eyes by L’Oréal and Smoothing Eye Care Wildrose by Weledathey had results disappointing. The L’Oréal cream only showed a 6% increase in moisture, while the Weleda cream offered no improvement compared to untreated skin.

Two of the tested products contained allergenic substances, including Dr. Hauschka’s cream which contained geraniol, limonene and linalool. These substances give cosmetics fragrances of citrus, roses and lily of the valley. However, many people can be allergic to all three, as indicated by the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety. Furthermore, limonene is highly toxic to aquatic organisms, with long-term harmful effects.

These substances, although derived from natural essential oils, can cause irritation and are not suitable for sensitive skin, write the Swiss experts.

Finally, we would like to point out that the Nivea Q10 eye contour cream it is among the promoted products of the test e gets “good”.
