Another 250 MW floating wind farm in the Mediterranean arrives
France accelerates on the energy transition with the assignment of A new 250 MW floating wind farming project to Ocean Winds and Banque des Territires. The park will rise in the Gulf of the Leone, off the Occitania region.
Baptized “Éoliennes Flottanto d’Occitanie” (Eflo), the FLOCANTO D’Occitania wind, the project strengthens the presence of the Marine Aicico in the region, alongside the nearby Pilota Pilota Flotienes Flottantas du Golfe du Lion (EFGL), the floating wind of the Gulf of the Leo, and to two other fixed plants currently under construction.
The Mediterranean continues to assert itself as a nerve point for the birth of fleet offshore parks. Only a few days ago was the news of the launch of Med Wind floating park off the coast of Marsala.
Clean energy for 500,000 people
The new system will produce about 1 TWH of energy per year, a sufficient amount to cover the needs of half a million people. A significant contribution to the Occitania region, which has 6 million inhabitants, and the national energy mix.
But the value of Eflo does not stop at the only production of energy: in the development and construction phases, the project will generate about 5 million hours of work and will create permanent jobs for the maintenance of the system. A positive impact that combines ecological transition and local economic growth.
A long -term vision for the wind farm
The assignment of EFLO marks a further step forward for the decarbonization of France, with the aim of strengthening the production of renewable energy and developing a greener economy. The Mediterranean thus prepares to welcome one of its greatest clean energy infrastructures, projecting Occitania and France in a new era of the offshore icy.
